Mark also teaches through other venues including:

Mark helped launch Vancouver Island University’s Masters of Community Planning program in 2015.  He was instrumental in helping secure full professional accreditation from the Canadian Institute of Planners for the school within 18 months, even before the first cohort had graduated.

He serves as an adjunct professor in the school now teaching several courses and supervising many graduate thesis students.

He is leading the intellectual and committee work to upgrade the curriculum to reflect the school’s deep commitment to high performance and accountability to the students, the profession and Canadian communities. Based on this work on launching the newest planning school in the country, Mark is working on a book on what community planner’s education should address to create empowered and effective planners in the 21st century.
