Mark recently helped launch in 2015, the first new graduate school in the 21stcentury in Canada in Community at Vancouver Island UniversityThe School received full professional accreditation in a record 18 months, even before the first cohort had graduated.  He was central to developing the schools core ethos and philosophy of “practical scholarship” and he teaches two courses as a professor, supervises many graduate theses projects and is leading the school’s curriculum committee.

Mark also coordinates the Development Fundamentals Course program for the Urban Development Institute (Okanagan Chapter), introducing both public and private sector practitioners to the process, issues and complexity of real estate development.

Mark is the co-author of several books and articles including: 

  • Urban Magnets; 2017 (a book before publishers at this time)

  • Neoterric Authenticity – a chapter in an academic book on authenticity in cities, to be published by Taylor + Francis/Routledge in 2018.

Mark has been a public speaker for decades including several TEDX lectures, keynotes at many major conferences and a steady stream of speaking roles in various events, large and small.
